Funny story: On my first four trips in a row, my DW always wanted to bring a watermelon. There's no good place to put it but in the sink, so it doesn't roll around. When we needed the sink, we had to move it, which was a pain. Each time, it got eaten after we got back home, so it wasn't really a necessary item to pack.
Now, when we're packing, I always ask the kids if we should get a watermelon. Each time, the answer is "NO!!!!!"
