I have things like a 25ft 30A extension cord, needed it once before I bought it, have NEVER needed it since I bought it, not getting rid of it though. I'm of the mind set, that I won't need some of the things that I carry..... till I don't have them. :(
A big x2! Since we have more than ample storage, I am taking the Boy Scout approach. Sure, I'll lose 0.1 mpg hauling the stuff around but it'll be there when I need it.
By the way, you WILL need that 30A extension again some day. - hobbssbExplorerWe have a supply of amusements - cards, dominos, cribbage, checkers etc. that we have hardly ever used. When we sit down we are too busy reading and "iphoning" to get around to anything else.
- restlesswindExplorerAfter reading all the replies, I can think of quite a few things that I can get rid of that have not been used in a month o' Sundays!
I'll think about getting rid if some of it...maybe. - KittykathExplorer III thought I hit the jackpot when I scored a second matching set of Corelle dishware at a garage sale. I mean, it barely takes up any room. I've discovered two things. Stacks of them aren't featherweight, and I'll probably never entertain 24 people while I'm camping. Hit the road, Corelleware!
- RVcrazyExplorerI forgot to mention that we carry 5 outside chairs we haven't used in 10 months...
So far, the gerbils have been the most entertaining post! - tracyb-ohExplorerWe carried around a screened dining tent that never came out of the storage compartment for two years. I took it out and put it in the basement where it has been for 10 years unopened. What is the strange control that stupid thing has on me that I cannot get rid of it!
- ependydadExplorerWe're about to go full-time for a little over a year- I keep threatening that I'm going to tie a red twisty-tie to everything. If you use it, it comes off. Anything still twisty-tied in a few months GOES.
We'll see how it actually goes, though. :D - Chock_Full_o__NExplorer

Funny story: On my first four trips in a row, my DW always wanted to bring a watermelon. There's no good place to put it but in the sink, so it doesn't roll around. When we needed the sink, we had to move it, which was a pain. Each time, it got eaten after we got back home, so it wasn't really a necessary item to pack.
Now, when we're packing, I always ask the kids if we should get a watermelon. Each time, the answer is "NO!!!!!"
LOL, that's hilarious. We never had a watermelon in the sink, however we did travel one summer with a beta fish in a jar in the sink and two cages of gerbils in the bathtub. Had to keep the cages separated by a trash can--otherwise, "love will find a way." :C - noplace2Explorer

If we haven't used it in a year and it's not an emergency type of item, out it goes. If we haven't worn clothes in a year they go to charity. We purge every 6 months and every time we buy something new, we have to get rid of something.
We just started our 15th year fulltiming and follow the above always. We haven't had to get rid of anything in a couple of years. After the first year we removed enough stuff for a yard sale. :) - colliehaulerExplorer IIIThe first TT I bought I overpacked. I took everything I might use. I was going into the mountains of Colorado. On one 8% grade I was down to 15 mph in first gear. When I got back home I unloaded everything I did not use on the trip. I have been a minimalist every since. There is always a Wallyworld along the way if I need something.
