It depends on the age of the crowd.
We fuss with the fire.
We play music if nobody is around.
We watch the dogs explore and bring us things to play fetch (again, if nobody is around).
If there are kids around, we tell them about "The Talking Stick" and explain that whoever has it gets to run the conversation. And then we teach them about progressive stories where one person starts the tale, and then you pass to the next person who picks up where the last left off and continues the epic tale. Kids love it.
If there aren't any kids, we tell grownup stories about previous camps and previous rides.
If it's just my wife and i, we stay quiet and admire the dogs chasing through the desert night. Sometimes we quietly play podcasts.
