Glamping is a portmanteau of "glamorous" and "camping." I've mostly seen it used in regards to some ultra-luxurious tent setup, maybe involving staff or butlers or what have you to actually do all the icky or dirty bits. My experience may be tilted, though.
People who favor tents or less may think of camping in an RV, with a shower and bathroom and kitchen and dining table all at hand, to be glamping. I don't really care what they choose to think; I just enjoy feeling squeaky clean and sipping a cup of tea at the table while in my bathrobe.
("portmanteau" is an interesting word in its own right, and properly refers to a large suitcase or trunk with two halves that can be separated. It comes from the French words for "carry" and "cloak". The application to word coinage was invented by Lewis Carol.)
