- jplante4Explorer IIAre you trolling for trouble?
There is a group of "purists" who eschew all forms of camping except in a sleeping bag under the stars next to a campfire as "glamping". In general, a roof, a bed, a microwave and air conditioning gets you on the glamping side of the recreation called RVing.
Most of us here started camping in a tent with a Coleman lantern and maybe a hibachi to cook on. I still remember driving down US395 in the Sierras with the tent flapping in the breeze in the back of my 67 GMC pickup drying out from a snowy night in Tahoe in April. Fine when you're 20, not so much when you're 60.
My take is if it gets you off the couch and out into some sort of nature, then it can't be bad. There's just no TV replacement for seeing Orion tipping across the pre-dawn sky. Orion knows not if you've just crawled out of a tent or a Tiffin. - Mich_FExplorerIf you're out there in a tent you're camping, anything other than that could be considered "glamping".
- pennysmom09ExplorerI believe glamping is just a made up word for "camping" in an RV with all the comforts of home. Camping with all your appliances, heat and A/c, queen bed, tv, etc.
