- BizmarksMomExplorerComing from a backpacking background, my 19' trailer is most definitely glamping.
I get teased, but I don't care. It doesn't take hours for my back to loosen up in the mornings. And, when it rains I don't have to periodically adjust the tarp strung over the cooking area. - cbshoestringExplorer II

If you're out there in a tent you're camping, anything other than that could be considered "glamping".
Have you seen some of those tents that look like mini hotels? What about those fold-em-up kitchens, tables, etc...
Me thinks glaming can be accomplished in a tent as well :B
Technically you probably have to get into a hard-side trailer, on up to the luxury Motor home, to be a "glamper".
However, some of those pups have as much as a TT.
The is an official glamping web-page that pops up in a search. - jplante4Explorer III remember catching flak from fellow "campers" when we bought a 2 room tent. I can't imagine what they'd say now. Our idea of "roughing it" is only 30 amp and no cable.
- Big_KatunaExplorer IIGLamourous cAMPING.
More than a tent with a cot. A Urt with a wooden floor, house furniture, real bed often catered. - RambleOnNWExplorer IIIn our tent camping days we evolved our setup long before 'glamping' was first mentioned. 11' x 11' tent, cots, air mattresses, air mattress for the dog.
We would put up 2 12' x 12' dining canopies end-to-end draped over the end of the tent at one end and covering the picnic table at the other end. No road tripping with that setup time though. Always seemed to attract rain too........ - mckindExplorerYou can get Glamping for the Indy 500. 4 nights, queen bed in a tent in the infield, all of your needs attended to and two tickets to all of the weekend festivities for the bargain price of $1,100.
- Horizon170ExplorerJust another made up word for me to remember NOT to use.
- JAC1982ExplorerI think we are younger than the average RV owner (early-mid 30s). Our friends, none of whom own a camper/RV, joke with us that we Glamp instead of Camp. I'm OK with that. I grew up camping in a tent with pit toilets a 5 minute walk down a dark pathway, and I will take my real bed and bathroom thankyouverymuch.
But yeah, I think the real definition is what others have touched on... equivalent to a 4 star hotel, but in the woods. - d3500ramExplorer IIII understood glamping to mean more creature comforts above and beyond camping...
...sort of how we set-up our hunting camp: an outfitters wall tent with sleeping bags on cots (instead of directly on the ground), a wood stove (nice and warm!) and even carpet remnants on the ground (keeps yer feet clean when the boots are off.) We even have an old tent wrapped around the hole we dig for the latrine! If you set a Coleman lantern in it about 5 minute before using it, the inside might even get above freezing! - MrWizardModeratorDefinition of glamping varies with who you ask
I consider it glamping when you go to the RV resort, get full hookups, and turn on all your outside party lights
