So like the title says - What is it that makes us tick? Those of us who will do anything to stay in the RV.I know I am not alone in this feeling so thought I would post about it.Here I am in the beginning of February, in Alberta working away from home, living in my TT. I absolutely love this lifestyle! I am so content to be in the TT in spite of the cold weather. Yeah a 30 pounder of propane every 3 days or so, frozen plumbing, can't dump because the tanks are frozen, gotta stay away from the walls when I'm in bed because they emanate cold, drafts galore from all kinds of places, but Hey, what the heck? I'm out in the RV!! Life is good.Got a heater going inside a lower cabinet trying to thaw my kitchen pips so I can was a few dishes. Upset? Mad? P'd off? Heck no, I smile at the adventure. I love it!!When I came here I had the offer of an apartment to use for free. But I turned it down in favor of living in my TT instead. Some think I'm nuts for that one, but whatever. My TT is MY space, mine!So why do I feel like this about living in the TT in freezing cold weather, and taking it as the residence of choice? What makes me tick for this choice?I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. In the RV, life is good!! :) :)

No wonder you're so happy to stay in your TT. You have melted butter amytime for your popcorn, lobster, mashed potatoes, even to smear on your toast in the morning. I envy you!

I spent a good part of my working years traveling by myself for the company, designing computer systems in our offices all over the country and then returning to manage the installations. I spent all those nights in cities I didn't choose, sitting on the bed in a hotel watching TV, and eating my meals by myself in the hotel dining room, staring at a wall while waiting for my "gourmet" meal to be served.I still travel by myself, but I go where I want to go, when I want to go, stay as long as I like, eat what I want to eat, wear what I want to wear which does not include neckties, and I have my "stuff" with me. BONUS POINTS: I know who used the bathroom and shower last.

Hi Bob,Total infection by the RV bug comes when you are able to run 3 shore power cords! I can hardly wait for the warmer weather when I can start to survive on 2 shore power cords and get out of this (cruddy) campground.

Bob, why do you like it? Because you are doing what suits you in your own piece of property, if you break something it's yours and will not mess up a friendship with the owner of the place that you had a chance to borrow rent free. You're more comfortable in your own nest. I can't say I'd of done the same thing I don't know but not some where it's bitter cold but in a warmer clime, heck yeah I'd live in my trailer my own property is more comfortable for me.

Count me out. For me, a severe winter is when it gets down to 40 degrees. That's when it's time for thermals, boots and parka.
As far as living in the big motorhome (with almost all the conveniences), it's OK for a week or two. I love to drive it, and it's my first choice of ways to travel, and staying when I get there.

How do you do it?
Don't freeze.

Hi Bob,

-29 C with windchill of -45 here at 10 a.m.

Do find those dual window fans. They will move warmed cabin air into the cabinets. This does work better than even a 1500 watt heater right in the cabinet. DAMHIK

Since you have access to the shop--how about running a 2nd cord and getting a 2nd heater up and running?
