The dumbest I've seen was just a couple of months ago on our return from Maryland. On an interstate in West Virginia, a woman in a van passed me on a steep hill while I was in the truck (slow, right) lane. My lane was running out and the arrows and merge left sign were obvious but the dummy in the van was determined to pass and forced her way around me which in turn forced me onto the right shoulder so far I almost hit the guard rail. It was either the shoulder or the fool would have hit my MH in the side. Glad the shoulders on interstates are wide.
JMO, but 2 faults here. The woman forcing her way & seeing that the lane was going to end why didn't you close the door on her before she got next to you?
I hate the dawdlers who waste time & space where there is a passing lane, but if I see that they are coming up on me slowly & my lane is ending their new view will be the back of me. I am not going on the shoulder because they are too lazy to turn off the cruise control & zip zround me.
By the time I saw the van in my door mirror she was already passing the rear of the MH. Since the road (as I said earlier) was extremely steep there was no question of "cutting her off" so I don't accept any fault for her stupidity. If you've ever driven a MH up a mountain then you should know that speeding up to "close the door" on someone is virtually impossible and at best a stupid idea. It would only invite a collision.
I don't know if you have a rear camera. But I have had issues with the tailgaters that decide to slingshot around you. They stick to your rear bumper and when you need to change lanes they inevitably shoot out and are right next to you as you are moving over rather than changing lanes and showing you they are there prior to proceeding forward around you.
