I disagree. Increasing what you feel is the reliability and reserve capacity are generally the two main reasons for changing your tires and rims if necessary. I know that was my case.

Yes LT is always good on a trailer. Many large & heavy trailers come OEM with LT tires. These are the strongest tires made for all positions and use. The load range is already derated ~10% for heavy duty use. Only thing stronger is a full on commercial tire.

We agree...I wasn't asking if they were ok with trailers I was saying these kumho are recommended for trailer use by the manufacturer.

Not sure of your point but these are not st tires so they have way more dot testing and will have a service life of almost double that of an st tire.

I'm sure these tires are as old as the camper (2005) gvwr. is 5800#.
i just looked on the inside of one of the rims, it says: 14x5.5 max load 1430#. So does this mean that i need new rims to if i get the Kuhmo's

Yes if your wanting to take full advantage of the 2271 lb rated 8 ply rated tire.

Your trailer has a 1450 lb per tire requirement at max GVWR.

Those Marathons must be old as Goodyear hasn't made a B load range Marathon in many years. What is your trailers GVWR GVWR ??

The old B load range tire had capacities comparabile to a P tire so IMO you sure don't need a D or especially a E tire.

The D tire requires a 65 psi rated wheel.

The E tire requires a 80 psi rated wheel.

A ST 205/75-14 C has 1760 lbs of capacity times four = 7000 lbs.

I'm guessing but your B tires at 35 psi may have approx 1500 lbs capacity per tire times four = 6000 lbs.

IMO a C would be a good upgrade if the present wheels have the load and pressure needs.

Actually, I made her a guilty party since I left the rim selection to her and got the one she chose, so I picked the tires and she picked the Rims ... LOL :B

As a side note our new 2013 Sonata Ltd came with Kuhmo tires and with only 1200 mi on it one of the tires has developed a side wall bulge:E Hopefully that is not an OMEN of things to come:h
