What kind of heater?

WARNING Newbie Question: We are not planning on using the old furnace in our old Class C RV, but rather use some kind of 110v portable heat. I was thinking a ceramic type heater but have been told that the oil filled ones are better. I'm asking the wise and wonderful long-timers on these forums for guidance. Please keep in mind we travel with our 2 dogs, so safety is at the top of the list. Thanks in advance for any input.

    Why not use your furnace?

This is really a more important question than you might think.

What if.....you end up overnighting where there is no shore power ?
Running electric heat off a generator is WAY inefficient...and noisy....and a CO hazard maybe.

I think having a good working propane heater/furnace is really important.....but that's just my opinion.
  • The oil filled heaters do a good job and, they're quiet.
Small ceramic cube heaters also work well. They have a fan to move the air. It circulates the heat better.

How cold will it be where you're camping? The 120 volt electric heaters are 1500 watts.
  • We have the ceramic disc type and like it a lot. It heats up our small tt no problem. It's very small but really puts out the heat. Had an oil filled for an up heated porch at home. It's much larger and has no fan. I prefer the ceramic disc for the trailer.
