Nice subject. I know I have many, many but here are a few.
Cried the first time I walked into the temp. 911 memorial in NY. Knowing the pilot of Flight 11 was real hard.
Also cried the day I was told I have incurable cancer but that was 3 years ago and I am still here.
I was and am blown away by the Lincoln Memorial, walking up those stairs is so moving.
Proud of my 3 kids and especially when my youngest became an Eagle Scout.
You'd be amazed to see the finished 9/11 site. I avoided that area for years after the event and even changed my job so I no longer had to walk nearby. Recently started consulting @ Brookfield Place frmrly known as World Financial Center (across West Street from the WTC) with much trepidation. My heart beat over rapidly the first (and second and seventh) times I walked under the WTC bath tub foundation to the other side of West Street.
The place is alive with young families and children. And a sailing/kayak school at the marina. And ferries crisscrossing the Hudson. Outdoor cinema during the summer. "Pop up" skating rink in the winter. Art performances and installations year round.
I already told one of my sons that he should look into living in this area big time.
I am.....proud of the way NYC has recycled this part of the city despite all the then naysayers.
I was there last September and it was amazing how it all turned out.
