When I first started RVing, I wanted to head west to places I'd been camping as a child with my folks, but couldn't think of some of the names. So I Googled "South Dakota Tourism". Still one of the best tourist sites on the net. It was so helpful that I started doing this for other trips, and finally did it for all the continental states, whether I was going immediately or not. They aren't all winners, but the gems that I would have missed make up for it. I supplement that with a stop at the first rest area as I enter a state. The folks behind the counter have current highway construction information and a wall of flyers. Skip "Ripley's Believe It or Not."
BTW, you don't have to look up "Wall Drug Store" in South Dakota. Signs appear on I-90 about the time you leave Wisconsin. Everybody should see it once.
