We did a little 13K mile, ten week trip two years ago. I had just been diagnosed with cancer and was afraid if we didn't go and do as much as possible I would never get to do it. Well fortunately we keep a journal and take hundreds of photos because I am now cancer free and so happy to review that trip over and over. Two things that really stand out in my mind, are while following the St Laurence Waterway we climbed above the river and looking down I saw beautiful woods, small farms, white church spires above the tree tops and wisps of fog. So bucolic and so what I hoped the area looked like. The other was in the mountains of Nova Scotia, we had climbed up from the Bay of Fundy into the woods so thick the DW made me stop to take photos. As we passed out of the woods into a tundra area the colors were surreal. It really looked like a billboard or painting. I could go on and on about what we saw but those things really stick out.
My biggest disappointment on that trip was on Skyline Drive looking down into the Shenandoah Valley and not being able to find John Denver's Country Roads. A song written by Ron and Tammy Donhoff on their trip there for a family reunion.
See what I mean, I can go on and on about the wonders of traveling.
