Remember that every single mile you roll down the road you are discovering America. It's not just the highlights. In fact given the choice of being able to skip from highlight to highlight without the miles in between I suspect not too many of us would sign up for that. More than a few perhaps consider the Journey to be the real "highlight."
I agree with this statement. In my younger days I was not "on vacation" until we actually reached our destination which sometimes took several days. Fortunately as I have aged I now enjoy the journey as much as the destination.
