- cochise49ExplorerOn third awning on a 2005 DP. First one...forgot to secure rolled up...wind unrolled it on I40 near Needles. Second one, pulled in to tight driveway at home...backed up to reposition...crunch ensued...damage to awning arm and to tile roof. Ripped off refrigerator vent cover on low tree branch. Recently...turned before clearing"pivot point" and tore off three compartment doors on drivers side on fuel pump barrier post. Was in shop for over five months. Just got it back.
- mepboatExplorerPacked the RV early morning in the dark and thought I would pull around front of home to add on the cargo carrier and cooler. Walked around the RV in the dark looking at the exterior but NOT looking down enough to see that the electric was still plugged in. Pulled away and pulled the connection plug right out of the RV. Easy remedy....I made a series of spring clothes pins with several notations on them....Electric...Water...Antenna, etc. and place them on the gear shift so I see them before I put the RV in gear. Cheap and easy fix to an embarrassing and costly mistake.
- JarlaxleExplorer III put a Dirt-Devil in an overhead cabinet on my old TT.
It knocked the cabinet door off on its way out. Whoops! - sowegoExplorerThe most stupid thing we've done and in my opinion something everyone should not do...overload the rig with as much stuff as it can hold, which is way more than we could ever use! Not anymore...went through emptied cabinets, lower bays, drawers, every little nook and cranny that held stuff we didn't use...now we are riding high and light!
Less is best and happily so! - seleExplorerOurs seems to be the tv antenna we look like buzzards circling a dead carcass these days looking at everything so we don't have an issue.

Ok, I guess it is fess up time. I have a very manuverable coach so gas pumps are not a problem as not much rear swing (see picture in sig). But I have historically parked the coach in my driveway by backing it in. Not a problem - normally! Did it many times.
One time, wasn't aligned as normal and proceded to back the coach in. I stopped when I heard "the crunching sound".
Stove vent.
Now if you were brave and clicked on "stove vent" you would have seen what mine looked like. Granted that I planted the tree, but my wife watered it so I think that even though she was in the house, it was her fault!
Think I can sell that?

Lesson 1 - If you are using the tank flush in the black tank with the valve shut, don't turn and start to talk to someone. Not fun seeing your black water coming out of the vent on the roof. X2
Lesson 2 - Refer to lesson 1 and don't do it a third time. :B
I'm curious. Does it blow out like it did in the Robin Williams movie RV?
X2
Doesn't blow quite like that but close.
I have done that and have done or been party to just about every blackwater situation possible.
I now buy sewer caps by the gross. :S - C_SchomerExplorerI can't think of any stupid things but I sure built one of the strangest looking things on the back of one of our 5ers. We had a pontoon paddle boat for awhile and it had 12" x 10' tubes. I built a unistrut rack on the back end and used strut clamps with big thumb screws to attach the boat, upright, to the rack. Many many people followed us for a lot of miles, trying to figure that one out! Craig
