What to do with water filters between trips?

We have the Blue Camco for outside the RV and a whole house filter inside the wet bay. After camping for a week and not having another trip planned for about 3 months, what do you guys do with your water filters? How do you store them? Throw em out? I don't keep rig hooked up to water when she is parked home. Please don't turn this into my filter system is better than yours, I trust yours is great.
Thanks.
  • Drain out excess water, plastic caps on openings, store inside a sealed plastic bag.
  • Good Question. I also blow the hose and filter out and then screw the other end of the hose to the filter housing so it's all sealed. No water dripping and no bugs in the hose. We don't drink the water.
  • I fill the hose and filter with the same chlorinated city wate I filled the tank with and screw the ends together to keep it trapped inside the hose. Been doing it for 7 years and haven't had an issue yet. I change out the filter every season.
  • I blow the blue one out with air, and store it on end to drain. The undersink/wet bay one I change annually.
