So I'm sitting outside sipping on some NY state wine and this guy in an Allegro Bus pulls in 2 sites over. There's this big sycamore tree next to his site, so he pulls up into the site to the point where the slide is most likely going to interface with the tree. He's got about 20 feet of campsite behind him. The power cord goes in and after sanitizing the water spigot and spraying contact cleaner on the cable connection, he's all hooked up. Next he airs down and hits the auto level. Then he extends the slides, stands back and has a look at the non-existing clearance between the living room slide and the tree. I expect him to move the bus back 6 feet, but no. What does this lover of nature do???That's right. He calls the office and has grounds keepers come over and trim the tree.

Just goes to show you that they will sell an rv to anyone, even total idiots. Then again, he may not be a total idiot, just a person who cares about nothing but himself.Grumpy

It's obvious the guy in the Allegro had no common sense. The CG employees should have just told him to back up a few feet. I guess they were lacking in common sense also.That is a problem we see more and more. :S

On the other hand, looking at the pic, it looks like there's a couple of feet of gravel area to the left of the MH where the tree is. It could well be that the tree DID need trimming due to not being trimmed in a while and hanging badly over the sites gravel area.

Unfortunately that is going on all over the place. I remember the days in the Florida state parks when it was against the rules to cut any trees or bushes. Now it seems standard for anyone that can't fit into a site to grab their saw and cut away, and no one says a word about it.Jack L

It may just be the angle of the photo, but it looks like the site might have a bit of a grade. The back tire looks a bit off the ground already. Parking farther back might be worse."Judge not, lest ye be judged" as the saying goes.

Only once have I ever mentioned a tree to the park manager and within 30 minutes it was down...

As I passed the tree it brushed up firmly against my Rig,, (I was on the paved road) That hand never happened before in the many times I'd pulled in.. Well I parked on my site and went to the store to report site, Reporting tree to park manager enroute.

Unbeknownst to me... The tree was in the act of falling down.. It crashed while I was in the store. Had I been a minute or two later arriving at it the road would have been blocked by the tree.

I won't judge based on the post, could be an idiot, or not. I can say that any park that allows 15' tall trailers in as guests should reasonable expect to need the trees cut back to accomodate them. That site looks like a pull through so he was going to at least contact the branches if he pulled through.

One of my pet peeves is parks that refuse to trim the trees back to allow free access to the trailers they book as their livelyhood. I don't have anything against trees. I DO have something against trees dragging on my trailer as I move through a campground.

We were at Turning Stone in NY a few months ago and a big bus with a tag axle was leaving the park and he was dragging his towed. I did run over but he didn't look happy when I told him. I wonder how far you have to go like that before you have a bad day.

It's on one of those fancy retractors. He pulled it out, plugged it in, then retracted it so it would be off the ground. He wasn't backing up at that point. Aired down, levers down and slides out.

Yeah, the wheels are off the ground to get it level. Looks like it would be worse farther back where the site slopes even more.

FWIW, that cord looks like the power line for the m/c lift and it's pretty much fully extended. Parking farther back would mean the driver wouldn't be able to reach the power pedestal.

Not taking sides, but it seems like the RVer is being judged and vilified just from someone who posted a picture without knowing what all the circumstances might be.

RV.net shaming...good grief!
