It doesn't surprise me at all. The leaders here will find a perceived solution that will cost more money yet not solve anything but add a few more embarrassing problems.
We were at a couple of California State Parks last summer and two things struck me. 1, they are not being kept up, and 2, the young staffers were rude and did not make us feel welcome. I wrote a letter to the director of the park system about my thoughts, and I am still waiting for a reply.
In the back of my mind I feel the park system would prefer to close them down to us visitors and let the parks "get back to nature".
