being a native Californian and former resident for almost 60 years and camped at their state parks for over 40 years, i've seen the parks system slowly deteriorate over time.
a long time ago, the Calif. State Parks system were a true gem. but mismanagement, lack of funding and political battles began to affect it.
and the general population of California were unwilling to pay extra to support it, as the majority don't use the State Parks.
people forget how many users of the Calif. parks are from out of state or out of the country.
this "panel" is clearly using the platform for political purposes and have no idea what the State Parks' system is for.
to advocate public trans to the parks and soccer fields, clearly shows gross ignorance and they should be removed.
as has been said by others, if only they could begin to model Oregon's successful parks system, it would bode well for the future but i seriously doubt that could happen.
i love my home state but i left last year and moved to Washington State.
part of the reason was that i could no longer watch California being run into the ground. it no longer resembles the wonderful place i grew up in. i can no longer stomach what it's turning into.:(
