I see a lot of comments about lack of funds, but I also know from watching this and other RV boards that if anyone were to suggest increasing the fees, there would be an uproar.
In general, I'm against user fees. However, we are all paying them in some form or another. "We all pay taxes for the use of those resources" is the usual reply. The trouble with general taxes in lieu of user fees is that there's legislative discretion on how the revenue is spent. If a user fee is used, the funds can be earmarked by law to benefit the activity they collect from.
Would that mean $100 a night for a full hookup in a state park? Most likely. It would also mean the soccer players would have to pay for using the field. But the cost is paid by the people who want the resource the most.
Maybe public parks are not part of "the entitlement".
