Friend has nev-r-lube bearings. Good service & happy with them, but had heard the same "hard to get" stories.
He had quite a few years & miles on his, so thought he would get a set to carry "just in case".
Stories were true!
Sooooo - for the poster looking to change over - pay attention to how long it takes to get them via UPS - or - degree of difficulty to find a shop that carries them. (for when/if they fail "on the road")
Maybe an extra set is a good idea??

I did not find the nev-r-lube bearing hard to get. I called Dexter on a Monday and had them on Wednesday.
