As a healthy 70+, I digested all this and have decided that we will continue as long as we are still able and it is still fun. That is our case.
We belong to a classic motorhome group. The coaches are all 40+yo. The owners are all mostly classics themselves. We have more than a few at any rally that was over 80. One of the guys in our local lunch group is in the process of a frame-off restoration. He is 85 and has no plans to slow down.
The end point for me will come when I can't find the coaches maintenance log to record what I just did. But then, I have a DW that may just fill that in because she loves to drive the coach. That is in daylight, her eyes are as old as we are. Speaking of that, as you go along, get the other half into driving. First is that this spreads the load out and second is that if you take a hit, the seat can be filled with a competent driver that knows your coach.
I am writing all this with a heavy heart. I just received word from a granddaughter that a dear friend and member of our group passed last night. Yesterday, I was on the phone with him and we were talking about making plans for the spring. He will be missed.
