When To Unhook

Staying overnight in a pull through long enough to keep tow car hooked up to blue ox tow bar. Spot looks level but do I need to unhook tow bar before leveling RV? Any thoughts would be much appreciated
  • leave it hooked. We run the engine and run the trans through the gears for a few minutes per auto manual.
wife insist on putting car in park though. Someone might steal it?
So we make sure, the walk around, in the morning we run it through the gears, amke sure the ac vent is closed and put it back in neutral and in accessory mode.

I wouldn't even think this is necessary. Unless it is an older car/truck/Jeep that is using the battery for some odd reason.

  • I do not unhook the toad when staying in a pull throug and if it is more or less level it stays as is Some times we only hook up the electric.

  • if its an ALL TERRAIN tow bar, theres no real reason to disconnect when leveling.

I'm wondering where you're staying for the night ? walmart ? truck stop ? rest area ?
I never level our coach in a parking lot or rest area.
  • Camping is relaxing, why cause more work? No need to unhook, if you don't need a vehicle to go out.
