We carry enough cash to cover a couple of tanks of gas fills, "just in case" for whatever reason our cards wouldn't work. Also it's a lot cheaper to change up a lot of dollars at the right exchange rate for Canadians than to try doing it in dribs and drabs = hence carrying more cash than most might.
We split it up into 5 to 7 sets and hide throughout the RV in various locations from washing machines, to velcro throw pillows, to teabag holder to magnetic holders etc. We also have a dummy used wallet left in easy eyesight with out of date/blocked old credit cards, fake license, and other bits in plus about $22 including some change, so easy for them to take and hopefully leave with less damage.
Yes, we have found some of our money hidden a couple or more years later in places we'd forgotten we'd put it in before (LOL). Hubby say's when I find that "safe place" it'll be like Christmas as a child again on what will be there!
