Don't carry more than $300-500 cash, divided between 2 people and the tow vehicle. Part of that is a stash of $1 bills, for NFS campgrounds with deposit slots for campsite fees, and a few rolls of quarters for the laundromat.
We also carry a total of 4 credit cards, divided between 2 people and the tow vehicle.
I also keep my photography gear in the tow vehicle when not in use, covered up in an inconspicuous bag.
My thinking is that the tow vehicle is much more secure than the trailer. The locks are better, the structure is stronger, and it has an alarm system. It's left unattended less than the trailer, too.
Dividing up the cash and cards prevents trip disaster if one person has a wallet or purse stolen.
