where do you wash and detail your rig?

The twice yearly wash & wax is done in a boatyard.

Had good luck with CGs for a quick wash. Some say no. Some with a 'no wash' policy have let us wash while there mid week with few others around. There are a few that we make an effort to stop at because they have an OK to wash policy.

The whole wash thing is silly in a way. They don't want dirty RVs making their CGs looking bad but they don't let you wash on site.

I have never been to a campground that I have noticed washing was allowed. We park the trailer in the yard and wash it there. Sometimes we pull it forward to wash it in the driveway.

In my driveway. Lengthwise it just fits; length to fit was one of our shopping criteria, to make care, loading and unloading a possibility. Building codes let me park it there for 72 hours.

It's just one more reason why fulltiming didn't work for me. Now, I have a place where I can do pretty much whatever I want. I also do all my maintenance and repairs.

One person said he's never seen a campground that allows washing....he must only camp at one campground. For 40 years we've camped all over the west, with a couple of trips back east. Some campgrounds allow washing, some don't and some will after paying a fee. You'll find very few in California because of the water shortage, but states with lots of water don't have an issue. As a matter of fact, I can't think of any campgrounds in really wet states that prohibit it.

We keep ours at home and it's washed before every trip. If we're out for more than a week and the coach gets dirty, I usually wash it. When it's allowed, I try to do it without being obvious and ruining it for others.

No matter what the rules say, I always use a hose and brush to wash off the front of the coach. They don't usually have an issue when it comes to the safety of having a clean windshield.

To answer the OP's question I wash it at home. I don't detail my TT I live on a gravel road, it's 20 years old, and it's a camper not a car. I just use the garden hose and rinse it off. I do use a brush to scrub the bugs off of the front though.

we are full time in a high end RV Park and they dont allow any washing of car's or RV I have to use there approved vender list and the rates are really highnot a happy camper right now

I own the building where I store mine and have all the equipment there. I also have friends that have a couple of daughters that would wash it for $20 each. Unfortunately, they're both in college now. One in California and the other in Chicago. But lucky for me, the place where I bought my 'C' has the facilities and will wash it for me. And if I take it in for service, a free wash is included.

The fastest way I know to get thrown out of an RV Park/CG is to start washing your rig at your site. Never saw an RV Park or campground that permits washing the rig on site. To me it makes no sense to do so in the first place, it is just going to get dirty on the drive home. :S

I usually wash ours out in front of the house when we return from a trip, which creates no problems with the HOA. This last trip it was so dirty (we had not been out for a month), I broke down and washed/waxed it before we left and yes it got very dirty on the trip but it was still looking pretty good when we pulled into Quartzite. :B

If the bug collection on the front/cabover, which on a Class C can be huge gets too large (as in museums bidding on it), I let the high school kids wash the rig at one of their perpetual Saturday morning car washes. For $15 they are as happy to wash it as I am to just stand and watch.
