Why shouldn't owners/employers be able to read comments? If your review is accurate, you have right on your side.
Management response is the alternative to moderation. Review responsibly, subjectively, have no worry of recrimination.
I disagree with your hypothesis that there are few reviews due to that factor, do agree with anothers post that few or no reviews on good camps is relative. If you do not hear about a camp, it must be good, or does not need/ , use workcampers.
I 'd start there to find them.
