Where to go on fourth

I am looking for a good place to go camping for the Fourth of July. I have checked with castaways and frontier town and both are sold out. Any places you guys suggest within a 3 hr drive from Maryland.

  • Shad Landing was nice for a few days last Sep. We were the only ones in the loop. took a look at Milburn. Nothing big enough for us. Assateague is always good. We visit Martinak at least 4 times a year. Killens Pond twice a year.

The big commercials are too expensive, too crammed & too busy with golf carts for our liking.
  • Did yo try Fort Wally? They are Frontiertowns sister campground not far away. We stayed there in November and it was a nice place.
  • It's about four hours, but I am going to Liberty Harbor Marina in Jersey City, NJ for the fire works on the Hudson River. Spending several days so that I can take in a Yankees game, a Broadway show and do some exploring. Always tons of stuff to do in NYC.
  • If you are a Senior Member (I assume > 65) I would recommend staying home on the 4th or any other weekend. Leave that time to the workers. Works for us.
  • Look at Cherrystone on the eastern shore of VA. Kiptopeke has a nice campground also a little farther south but before the bay bridge tunnel. Also - If you just want to get away to a peaceful, relaxing site in the woods, try Shad Landing State Park. Even though its only 10 miles from our house, we often go there for a few days.
