Where would you camp each season?

Where do you think the ideal area to camp is for each season, Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall?
  • We are fortunate living in SC most of the time. We are 3 hours away from the mountains and 1 hour away from the beach. If we don't like the weather, we are only a short drive away for a change
  • Summer: Jackson Hole area
    Winter: Benson AZ area
Spring and Fall: state of MO
  • Where I am at the time...

I can camp 3 season where I live. Winter camp is a couple hours away below the snow line.
  • Having not camped east of Denver, or south of Zion National Park, my list is limited. My home region is the best for summer when we get SUN. Fall and spring are good choices, too and winter isn't bad. The US Southwest is prime in the fall for fall color. This includes the eastern Sierra in California. Oregon coast great all year even in winter for the storms. Lots of wonderful places to hang out and explore.
  • October to April/May - Arizona

May to October - Michigan is good as that's where we came from but now we love the west.

We enjoy being in the mountains in the summer. You can easily get cooler just by moving in elevation slightly and it doesn't take many miles of travel to change temperatures. Low humidity is very nice. We travel constantly in the cool elevations of Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana.

Also, for summer, the Pacific coastlines have very cool temps - Calif/Oregon/Olympic Peninsula of Washington. However, they can have days of rain and fog and thereby clouds.

We're really spoiled by having experienced sunny days in the mountains during the summer and Arizona during the winter. Sun does wonders for the soul!
  • That's what the beach and the springs are for. On the hottest summer day you will be chilled to the bone when you come out of the freshwater springs. Any Florida native that grew up without AC knows how to cool off in the summer.

I find Florida to be mostly ideal in the winter and early spring. I find summer and early fall to be pretty uncomfortable. There must be better choices.
  • Michigan in summer. I have a hard time even considering leaving the state during that time.

In the winter I have very simple desires; I would settle for any place where I don't need to wear a jacket.
