I was just wondering why you don't really see the all-in-one units in RV's. Most of the campgrounds I've been to use the all-in-ones and people beat the heck out of them and they seem to hold up to that abuse. My thinking is that the 2 piece units must be easier to get in and out of small spaces.
In addition to allowing things to pre-soak two things that I think would be in favor of the all-in-one unit are:
a) the washer door doesn't need to swing out in a small spot like in the front loader
b) you can't really stop a front loader in mid-cycle if you needed to
