I live in the Washington, D.C. metro area and I must admit that we have the most inconsiderate and incapable drivers that I am aware of. I have been to every state in the east and I can say, without a doubt, that Pennsylvania has the most considerate and capable drivers of anywhere I have traveled. When I head out of town I just can't wait to cross the Maryland border into Pennsylvania -- the difference in drivers is noticeable, almost immediately.Is there a state that you have visited where you can, generally, say the drivers are more considerate and better than most?Bruce

Hmm. Here is a USA Today article on who has worst drivers.I think a lot has to do with traffic. If it's heavy, there will be problems. Less, then everyone just cruises along.

LOLThere are 2 roads that we avoid whenever possible - the Washington Beltway and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

I knew Alabama was going to be the top ten. There is zero driver training for students unlike NY where I learned to drive. If you buy a used car from Alabama I can almost guarantee you the turn signal stalk and relay will be like new as its never been used. The speed limit, especially on rural roads is just a recommendation. I think every other driver is texting or talking on their phones.Be safe, Happy Camping

Sadly, after traveling a good chunk of this country, I think the only state with good drivers is the State of Denial.. You see, it's not that the drivers are any better there. Only that they deny they have bad ones.Far too many drivers today are living in the state of CONFUSION after all.

I see where you are coming from. It never occurred to me to make a comment on right to carry or anything like that. I was just pointing out that the fact that the guy in front of you may be armed should give you pause before blaring your horn at him or her. For the record, I have a concealed weapons permit so I'm not definitely not making any political points with my comment.

I get that. Forums don't always capture the nuances of someone's comments. Sorry if I came across too harsh. We are constantly fighting the battle here in PA, with only a handful of voting districts' voters who "count." Always diligent, always ready :)

Years ago I had a external fuel tank installed in my PU. Had to drive 21/2 hours from MI to Indiana in the same day 5 hour round trip. I counted over 50 deer laying along side the freeway ( that is when I started counting, there were more ) It was mid May. I try not to drive in the dark in the rural area we live. So far only hit one.

I'd second Germany. Here in Texas, drivers are OK as a whole, although any moisture on the roads will turn any major artery into a parking lot... and if there is even a threat of black ice... don't even try.

Usually the worst here are out of staters, or people from other countries. Hit rural Texas, and people will still pull over into the breakdown lane to let you by and even wave. However, get near Austin, and you can tell the non-natives quite easily.

California has the most skilled drivers.

It takes talent to text with one hand, sip a super large soda, keep your joint lit, and reload all while driving 85 mph on the interstate.

Surprised Delaware made near the top of the list. Must be all of those NJ & PA drivers who infiltrate the northern part of the state on 95 giving the whole state a bad rap. South of the C&D canal, Dover & down, they seem pretty good.

There's a very good reason that most of us Floridians won't blow the horn. It's called road rage. We understand very well how many of our fellow motorists carry weapons and traditionally have been apt to use them.

I am finding out more and more about just how many carry here and have them in their homes.

It DOES change the way things happen or do NOT happen because of the knowledge that many do.

This is very new to me coming from an area that you are not allowed to but I am starting to 'really' like the fact that I moved here.:W

Nova Scotia is a province not a state, but they have the most considerate drivers. Boston (a city) drivers suck and are very aggressive. As far as states...depends on where you are in each state.
