I towed Jeeps for several years.
I towed a Jeep Wrangler 4 cylinder/5 speed behind a truck and camper (Dodge Ram 3500 CTD with an 11.5 foot Caribou camper on it), no problems with the Jeep or the truck.
I towed a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited behind a Tioga Class C with Ford 460 engine and behind a Southwind Class A with a Ford V10. No problems with either motorhome or the Jeep, even when crossing the Continental Divide.
I towed a Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab short box behind the Southwind, over the Continental Divide, no problems.
If it wasn't for the fact that I want a pickup, and I don't want an extra vehicle, my toad would be a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 2-door, Probably an '06 Rubicon. An '06 because I don't care for the '07 and later models. they have become to "civilized".
