I learned this past summer that digital tire gauges fail and give ridiculous readings. The tire shop that put on my new tires were asked to set them at towing pressures. I checked and found the backs were at about 110 and 60, with the fronts at about 40 and 70. I went back to the shop, and found out that are having issues with their digital gauges. I towed a short distance with the tires at these bizarre pressures and was ready to go home. Fix the pressure, and it towed like it was supposed to.
Moral of this is, check the basics. If you have a digital one, try the old school type.
