Update with weights.
So I went up to 68psi on the fronts and it did make a huge difference but I'm still not out of the woods yet I don't think. The push/pull from the trucks is still there but it's much easier to steer out of it now, less fighting than the trip down. Steering is much more responsive now.
I did encounter some swaying on the return trip though. We had a little wind to drive through, and I had some swaying for the first time (ever actaully). This has me thinking I definitely don't have something set up right on the hitch. I think the weights show that too.
Here's the weights, I don't have the truck alone weight, yet.
Loaded with bars up.
Steer: 3380
Drive: 4380
Gross: 15260
Loaded with bars off, camper on ball.
Steer: 3180
Drive: 4680
Gross: 15260
Camper alone, no propane up front.
Tongue: 1320
Trailer axle: 7320
Gross: 8640
According to my calculations, the tongue weight is about 16% of the total. I also think I'm not distributing as much up front as I need to, only a 200lb difference on the front axle. I currently have 1,200lb weight bars, maybe they're flexing too much.
With 1320 on the tongue and figure 100 more for full propane, I'm pretty sure I'm not tongue lite, so not sure where the sway is coming from. I'm thinking not enough downward pressure on the cams to keep the bars locked in place, again just thinking out loud.
