These are all countrys located in NORTH America, just like the UNITED STATES of America is located in NORTH America. That makes the citizens of all those countrys Americans also. Go to the United Nations building in NY. What is the name of the country on the desk in front of your representative? It is not America.:)

North America is the continent and America is typically accepted as the shortened version of The United States of America which is a country on the continent of North America just as Canada and Mexico are. People from Canada are called Canadians, from Mexico, Mexicans and from America, Americans.
I think you need to check out the link I posted - it's not quite so simple.
