The other labels I can understand, although I would switch "vacationer" with "weekender", which is what I consider wife and myself.
As one poster replied already it is from John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath. A novel of the dust bowl era and the terrible ravages it put upon so many. It here is used as a reference to people who are forced in many cases through no fault of their own to live lives on the edge of economic security eking out a life with very little resources and often finding that all they can afford is a broken down trailer or motorhome to live in.
It appears from the reaction of a few that they did not understand the true meaning of the novel and it's central character or read my description as a pejorative instead of it creating empathy as intended.
