are you saying don't finance a new one or an older one?
If you need to borrow to buy the rig, "don't". The depreciation will put you under water immediately. Then there is all the ancillary equipment, tires, batt's, probably a hundred other items to be repaired or replaced.
delete my post - robsouthExplorer IIThe loan on the trailer is NOT tax deductible. The interest might be depending on circumstances.

I think we all should mind our own business when it comes to finances. It's no one elses business as to what each others finance options or needs are. Whether or not someone wants to finance something or get the money from somewhere is their own business and they have to deal with it.
I will say this. If people paid cash for their RV's, then the RV business would be hurting very badly as over half of us would not have an RV.
Unless of course someone *asks* for advice :R
In which case those who are inclined to assist the OP will do so. Those who do not wish to do so are not obligated to post. - peaches_creamExplorerVery simple. Put $500 a month in a saving account which will amount to $6,000 a year. You will earn .01% interest and in 3 yrs. you will have your $18,000 if the fees for the saving account don't eat up your principle. Chances are good, you will not be interested in RVing after the 3 yrs. of saving. :S
- TOOBOLDExplorerWe used USAA and looked into ESSEX credit. If you have a Costco account ESSEX offers a lower interest rate for members.
- Ski_Pro_3ExplorerGuy posts up here asking about private financing and people are chastising responders to mind their own business when it comes to financing??!!

I agree. Not many people would want to shell out 85-100k to buy a high end fiver. Lots of people have the cash but don't want to tie it up. The loan on the trailer is tax deductible. There are many reasons to finance an RV if you want one and not all of them are because you can't afford to pay cash...If it's anybody's business.
