But that sucker just totally came apart. As in ...failed to hold together. The sidewalls held together. The treads held together. But the seams and plys let go. In my mind that shows a GENERAL overall weakness in the tire. Even though the tire was almost 5 years old, it does not reflect well on the manufacturer.
Glad all is well now. By the way when you buy new tires, I hope you replace your spare too.
That's what I thought as well but Iam not familiar tire failures or what to look for. It doesn't seem to have any holes or ruptures, just came apart(possibly from heat?).
I bought a load range C, Marathon from WallyWorld for a spare to make the trip back home. It will go into service as my new spare and I will be getting 4 new tires for the road.
