I think one of the points is a lot of people can't afford the debt whether they want want to admit it or not. If you can afford it, then great, you can buy the new unit and then I can buy it from you in a couple of years at half price. If no one bought new ones, those of us that don't need the latest and greatest wouldn't have anything to buy.
Buying new by no means garanteeing no problems. Just follow the forum to see how many people are experienceing problems trying to get their new units fixed. I spent part of the summer with a person who is on their third new DP in about 8 years and he's ready to get rid of this one because of the problems. The air conditioners quit at his house so he came up to the MH while repair people worked at his house. When he got here, neither AC worked on his MH either - he wasn't a happy camper. I think when we go to visit next year, I'll see another new one.
