Too bad those early birds never learned tact. If I were in their shoes, I would not yell from my vehicle. I'd get out, walk up with a :) on my face and say something like, "I've booked this site for tonight and I'm trying to get an idea of what time I should come back. There's no rush, I'm just curious if you would mind telling what time you anticipate pulling out." And thank them warmly for their answer.
It's amazing what a smile and friendly voice can do. Kudos to you.

We showed up at 4:00PM and the previous camper was still in our site.
There is always someone who will stay to the exact last second and then some. They are usually the first people to complain too when they show up when someone is in their spot.
Naw, if I can't leave a site on time- I surely can't get to the next one early! :D

And now my story - at the KOA in Salt Lake City, it was about 5-minutes before the noon checkout. We were just finishing hitching and had to pull leveling blocks and power when a worker rolled up on his golf cart.
Back to the smile thing- he smiled at me and I went to chat with him. I told him I was fixing to roll out but would probably be 5 minutes late by the time we got everything wrapped up.
He laughed and said that someone had been waiting since 11am for my spot but not to worry, checkout is noon. It wasn't a problem. He was just checking to make sure everything was OK.
All was well- no hard feelings for anyone involved, I hope.
