Each hitch has a tongue weight limit on it. Very easy to check that number. My 2008 F250 says 500 pounds. I looked at Chevy and Dodge in same year and the limit was the same.I changed my factory hitch out for a class 5 hitch. Doesn't matter what sales person or manual says it is plainly marked on every hitch.
