Watch a flock of animals... those on the edge or by themselves are more likely to meet their fate.
Specialization gives groups advantages of trade. So more wealth is created in cities.
Of course if we think about it this should not apply to choosing an RV spot. I speculate most don't think too much about it so they form groups just on instinct.
