Not to go too far off-topic here.
But could someone please help me understand this thought of 1000 lbs. or more of familys' stuff? Really?
Unless we're talking about a golf cart, a full tank of freshwater, or something else out of the norm, I just don't see how our clothes, our food, and even our cooking items can even exceed 500 lbs..
Spot on Marty !!!
This is just one person and have received many PM's and read of many, many
who feel that they would never load more than a few hundred pounds...
why IMHO, not silly suggesting that they use the GVWR as basis for
their decision to purchase a trailer
Have direct experience with buddies dad who decided to follow recommends
on this forum and bought too much trailer for his Ford Highlander
Key was several advisers here that said 'sure, no problem...been
doing that for years with no problems'...'sure a Highlander can
tow that trailer'...etc
He was at that time elder who worked his butt off for decades as a
orchard owner. To finally sell it for a few million after taxes to
finally live his dream of visiting buddies along Calif Central Valley
To almost wreck the setup and now still has the same trailer, but with
a larger TV that is rated to tow that 'actual weight' trailer...which
is at it's GVWR
