Not to go too far off-topic here.
But could someone please help me understand this thought of 1000 lbs. or more of familys' stuff? Really?
Unless we're talking about a golf cart, a full tank of freshwater, or something else out of the norm, I just don't see how our clothes, our food, and even our cooking items can even exceed 500 lbs..
I have a whole house full of stuff in my RV. Clothes for the whole family. Linens for the whole family including beach towels, pots pans, dishes, lawn chairs, gas grill, games, sports stuff, dog stuff,a full pantry, full fridge,4 TV's,video stuff,4 bikes, tools, air compressor
kitchen appliances. I won't mention RV accessories like sewer hose macerator, 42 gallon Tote, fresh hoses etc.
My RV is essentially a rolling condo. Granted my fiver has lots of room to put stuff.
But my prior 32' TT was 7200 lbs. dry and was typically 10.5K loaded it had a GVW of 11K. I carried a 14' Porta Bote outboard motor, gas cans, bikes on the tongue and genset on rear platform. All the personal stuff mentioned above. I had 3K worth of stuff at all times.
Granted my load is excessive,However I stay within my ratings and travel with everything I need.
500 lbs is at the other extreme! As mentioned more realistic figure for a family of 4 is 1500 lbs
