I think there is a difference between mean or antagonistic posts and posts such as "call and ask" or "search for it".
If you want specific information about a campground I can think of a few methods to get that information;
Call and ask the place
Ask on here
Look for reviews and read about specific information you seek.
Its not rude to suggest you call and ask, it is a legitimate source of the information you seek.
Furthermore, when someone gets on here and starts a new thread that is covered ad nauseam on this forum already, I don't feel it is rude to tell that person to search for prior threads. Chances are that their is a thread out there that covers every singe aspect of the question that was asked. There is no need to re-hash the same old argument.
A perfect example is roof cleaning and coating. There have to be a dozen threads asking about how to walk on, how to clean, how to inspect, how to seal, whether or not to seal, etc etc the roof. There is ZERO benefit to the forum to have another person come and ask the same question. The OP could simply search and find the thread and get all the information NOW, rather than pose the question and wait a week to get replies.
There are plenty of examples of troll-ish behavior, rude SOB's, cranky old men, etc on this forum. I don't feel that telling someone to call a campground and ask or telling someone to search the forum is rude. It is a legitimate option to provide accurate or timely information that is already available.
