I don't feel that telling someone to call a campground and ask or telling someone to search the forum is rude. It is a legitimate option to provide accurate or timely information that is already available.
I sometimes wonder if posters really want the best answer, or just some chit-chat about what they're doing. It's so much nicer to read "I've called (searched) for such and such but.. "
