Why run toad engine at every fuel stop?

Why run the toad engine at every fuel stop?
Is this recommended to keep the battery charged or lube the transmission or both. My toad battery charges through the umbilical cord. Will I damage the transmission by not running the toad engine for the recommended five minutes?
  • "I get 600 miles on a tank of gas and travel usually 200 miles per day. What is the logic in running the toad at a gas station every third day?"

    If you are one of those rare individuals who know more the the vehicle manufacturer, be my guest and don't run your toad, void any warranty you have...with my compliments!

    X2 !

    Every manual instructions I have seen states the start up requirements in MILES not days.

    My toad manuf. stated to start the toad every 250 miles. And come on it is not a big deal or inconvenience.
  • rockhillmanor;

    FYI, our 2013 Honda CRV manual says to start it every 8 hours. Nothing at all about miles.
  • start it every 8 hours, how do you schedule it for the evening and midnight shift
  • Good point.
    In our case, I'm fortunate that my wife is a night person and doesn't mind handling the night "shifts".(pun intended)
  • Theluv, rock and I didn't slap you. We said you were dead wrong not to follow the vehicle manufacturer's guidelines...which you didn't want to hear.
