Why?

A ladder was the only good way to wash the windshield when seasonable camping in Florida with its miserable pine dust. I used it for a lot of things. I preffered it to the built in ladder on my class A. It was great for cleaning debris from under the slide out covers. Mine was on loan a good part of the time to people that did not carry one with them.

I use mine for putting the windshield and side window covers on. It is either stand on a ladder to fasten the top twist locks, or lay down on the roof and lean over the side to reach down for them. Since I absolutely refuse to do that, I carry an aluminum ladder.

If you are a weekend camper you probably won't need one. If you need to get to a high spot on your RV you simply wait until you get back home and pull your ladder out of your garage.

Snowbird or Full time and they are almost a must have. Washing, waxing, cleaning the roof, getting up on the roof, etc. We have to "maintain and clean" our RV's "while on the road".

The ladders on the back of MH's are not that sturdy to be using often. And climbing up the ladder on the back to the roof is not going to help you wash the windows on the side! :B

Also depends on what type of RV you have. You can't reach the windows in a MH from standing on the ground.

Best ladder carrying I ever saw was a full body paint MH that the owner had the ladder painted with the same body paint so when it was attached to the back of the MH it blended right in with the graphics on the back of the MH!

My RV ladder is rated at 200 pounds.

With a ladder, the RVer can more easily get a leg up in the world. ;)

We use ours to get into the water at the lake, about a four foot drop and clean off slides.

Sometimes I use the ladder to clean the windshield and windows.
It's nice to have in the event it is needed. But, it's usually not needed.

Yep it's the slides. you got to get the branches off before bringing them in.

I carry a lightweight fiberglass step ladder to brush off the top of the slide before I take it in. We frequently camp in leaf country and there's usually quite a bit of leaves and twigs up there. The seal does a pretty good job of keeping them out of the trailer, but then they get packed against the outside edge of the slide flange. A couple minutes with the extention broom and life is good.
