You can use a second tier cell phone company for hot spot usage also.
Straight talk has a $55 per month unlimited data plan.
Now for the screamers, I know straight talk says no tethering, and their phones have the mobile hotspot disabeled. BUT if you buy a hotspot capable, unlocked phone such as a Motorola Moto E or G you can then use it as a hotspot.
Cell phone companies used to be able to tell when you tethered to a computer by the use of secured sites, now with so many tablets having cell connections , websites are designed for cell usage and data transfer.
Yes their terms of service say dont do it. But I did it for 3 years as a wired tether on straight talk, and for the last two with total wireless (a sister company) as a wifi hotspot and have had no problems.
I will be going back to straighttalk with my next phone change or when I disconnect my satellite .
