Wifi?

Sorry if this topic has already been covered. I tried doing a search, but couldn't come up with anything for some reason.

Wondering what everyone does for internet while traveling? Are there any unlimited hotspot plans?

  • There are several unlimited hotspot data plans available from the various carriers, with T-Mobile and Sprint being the current low price leaders I believe. T-Mobile and Sprint also have the worst coverage though, so make sure whoever you choose will work in the areas where you travel. We use AT&T and Verizon unlimited plans to maximize our coverage options.
  • GalaxyGirl,

I think we all use internet when traveling, but using wifi is a bear. I tried it for years.

Yes there are plans that provide lots of wifi coverage, but it was never where I needed it then. I started tethering to phones years ago and never looked back. Sometimes, when I have about burned the month down, I will try wifi. We never use it for anything serious as it is difficult to make it secure.

There is actually a lot of free wifi available if you know where to look. All the fast food, stuff your face and even some real restaurants often have. You just never know until you search.

If you are going to run wifi to a computer, get an Alfa package. If you are going to try to run wifi at campgrounds, get a coloring book so you have something to do.

    Matt
